ONE ENTRY: A feature article (non-fiction) pertaining to people/places in Wisconsin, or at least a link to Wisconsin-400 to 1,200 words (2 to 5 typed, double-spaced pages) ENTRY FEE: A check for $8 made out to WRWA, included with submission. (Please note the change in fee.) CONTEST OPENS: January 1, 2008. All entries must be postmarked by March 15, 2008. DO NOT send SASE. Manuscripts will not be returned. Include a SAS postcard if you wish to have receipt of your manuscript acknowledged. ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open to WRWA members only. Reminiscences have dominated the previous contests, but profiles, essays, how-to, travel, humor, and roundup articles are welcome, too. A former first-prize winner is not eligible to submit work for the next three (3) contest years. Articles must be ORIGINAL and UNPUBLISHED. Note: A rewrite of a published article does NOT qualify (sorry!). Also, please do NOT mix fact and fiction, or submit manuscripts that have been sent out for publication. PROTOCOL: Manuscripts must be typed on one side only of 8-1/2 x 11 white paper and double-spaced. The cover page must contain NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, and NAME and ADDRESS of your local newspaper. The first page of the manuscript must include TITLE and WORD COUNT ONLY. NO NAME! The following pages should contain ONLY the title and page number. NO NAME! Please use paperclips; do not staple. Your essay will be given a contest number. Cover sheets stay with the contest chairperson. The judge will select winners by number only. (Judging will be done by a noted Wisconsin writer or one with Wisconsin ties.) PRIZES:
